Print and Digital Publications

WHAT IS PUBLICATION DESIGN?

Publication design includes Book design, Capability Brochure and Pitch Book design, Thought Leadership/Promotional Brochure design, Annual Report design, and ESG/Sustainability Report design.

The art of designing publications is a complex process that begins by thoroughly assessing your business’s specific needs and resources. Through years of designing robust marketing collateral for our corporate clients, we have emerged as experts in storytelling. With informative and visually engaging graphics, charts, illustrations, and animations, we help extrapolate and highlight the purpose of your publication for your clients, employees, investors and other stakeholders. Offering compelling narrative sequences, the publications we design are tailored for both digital and printed formats. See more details below about our different award-winning publications with case studies below.

BOOK DESIGN

Designing anniversary books, corporate magazines, and special publications has been one of our longest-running service lines. Having started at Random House, Knopf and Pantheon, we have designed special project books and museum publications for Julia Child, The Museum of Modern Art, Andy Warhol, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and The National Gallery. We have won many design awards for our books and covers, including The National Book Award for the cover design of Marcel Proust's Remembrance of Things Past.

As experts in copywriting, we carefully deconstruct your story and find the most logical and compelling way to present it, developing a narrative flow that we integrate across every page of the book, keeping the message concise, uncluttered and engaging the reader throughout.

BROCHURES AND PITCH BOOK DESIGNS

We design capability brochures, pitch books and other marketing collateral that highlight your brand’s image, instill strong brand values, and raise awareness of new products or services. Timely fund launch brochures, for example, are considered to be among the most effective investment vehicles – and should be done right the first time. A well-conceived design will illuminate, simplify, clarify and persuade, adding value and credibility to your business.

THOUGHT-LEADERSHIP AND PROMOTIONAL BROCHURES

As a thought leader, you can demonstrate your company’s authority in a specialized field and establish your expertise with the people you want to reach. Having worked with some of the top professional services firms for many years, we have amassed a great deal of intellectual capital on the best ways to express and promote thought leadership. We have worked with economists, bio-scientists, and futurists, among others, to define and express their ideas in a clear and understandable design. We even make white papers come to life as both educational and persuasive pieces to help companies enhance their reputations. These kinds of pieces reflect the underlying purpose of a promotional brochure – whether you’re communicating about products, industry innovations, or broad business capabilities – to communicate the strength and value of your company through effective copy, layouts, and images.

ANNUAL REPORTS & SUSTAINABILITY REPORT DESIGN

When we design annual reports, we aim to capture every one of your company’s achievements and present them with energy and insight. And with the growing interest in sustainability and ESG reports, we have taken report design to a whole new level. Our ability to break down complex information and make it clear and concise has won us many prestigious clients and design awards, such as Graphic design USA, RGD's So(cial) Good Award, AIGA, LACP Vision Awards Annual Report Competition.

Case Study: The Rockefeller University 2022 Financial Annual Report

The Rockefeller University Financial Annual Report is an executive summary that captures 2022’s most outstanding accomplishments. The purpose was to show stakeholders the value of their investment in improving the health of humankind around the world. Our design approach was minimalist, subtle, and dynamic. Color was employed as a tool to differentiate the charts and graphs, bringing the main points into focus. We were able to create a concise narrative that can be appreciated by all their various audiences.

Case Study: Biogen Anniversary Book

Odgis + Company had the honor of developing a special book to commemorate Biogen’s 40th anniversary and celebrate their groundbreaking accomplishments, their Nobel Prize-winning founders, and their focus on neuroscience. Working closely with the Biogen team, we designed, researched, wrote, and produced this special volume, complete with a slipcase. Each spread moves through time, capturing Biogen’s evolution – a visual experience that reflects the dedicated teamwork of Biogen’s heroic researchers, doctors, and engineers as they discovered important scientific breakthroughs. This book was created to be a gift to the employees and key stakeholders who had contributed to their remarkable success. The paper, binding, printing and production all came together in a publication that will be treasured for years to come.

Case Study: Champion Paper - White on White

From 1963 to 1989 Champion Paper published The Imagination Series, 26 promotional books in total targeting designers, art directors, and printers to showcase creative uses of paper on a range of paper grades. Imagination 26, White on White, is the last in the series, taking the book to new heights creatively, with Odgis + Company developing the concept “White on White” as a unique visual vocabulary. Janet was the only woman to lead the design in the series. Odgis + Co handled the conceptualization, creative direction and production of this three-dimensional, award-winning publication. Drawing on the power of positive and negative space to create dynamic tension, each page uses a unique paper weight and demonstrates how design can make printed work dynamic and compelling.

Case Study: Vornado ESG Report

Vornado Realty Trust’s ESG reports show a panoramic view of their portfolio and robust sustainable practices that support their buildings and tenants. In fact, our work helped Vornado not only tell their story but also achieve a $450 million Green Bond, which enabled them to reach and exceed their ambitious goals and expand their ESG programs for their properties and surrounding communities. For ten years in a row, we have designed their reports to tell their story, employing strong infographics and dashboards that help clarify Vornado’s approach and strategy, as well as their program for mitigating risks. In every report we illustrate how they continue to measure, manage, and reduce their carbon footprint, an approach that makes the story readily accessible to the reader.

For the 2022 Vornado ESG Report, the key aspects of their accomplishments were aggregated into three executive summaries. We used color to organize the distinct sections. Tables of contents and running heads for each section provide links, allowing the user to easily navigate through the content.
