Odgis + Co had the honor of working with Rockefeller University on their 2022 Financial Annual Report, which offers a snapshot of the university’s flourishing financial health — the bedrock that enables their continued excellence in biomedical research and education, today and tomorrow.
The Rockefeller University in New York City is the world’s leading biomedical research university, offering doctoral and postdoctoral programs. Rockefeller draws top scientists and graduate students from around the world in pursuit of one mission: to conduct science for the benefit of humanity. They focus primarily on the biological and medical sciences and are devoted exclusively to curing human disease.
Rockefeller University came to us looking to refresh their report and create a concise executive summary that captures 2022’s most outstanding accomplishments. In previous years they had an issue with redundant information in their Seek Magazine publication and their annuals. The goal was to separate the two publications to avoid the duplication. We suggested using the inside back cover as a teaser to preview what to look forward to in the next issue of Seek.
Since this is a strictly a financial report, the cover design uses hairline numerals illustrating how “22” echoes and reverberates, emphasizing the significance of this year.
The oasis-like campus along the East River is designed as hard-edged abstract line art that is rendered on the back cover.
In contrast to the angular campus map, cell-like, circular line art is portrayed on the inside front cover, revealing key quantitative information which helps to summarize the story. Colorful infographics support the narrative throughout the report.
Rockefeller University has an unparalleled concentration of researchers and trainees recognized with top awards, including the world’s most prestigious bioscience prizes. The campus is a spectacular environment, including cutting-edge technologies, great research infrastructure, and exceptionally innovative colleagues with the same ambition to make critically impactful discoveries. Crucially, none of this would be possible without the generosity of their amazing benefactors, making the school tuition free!
It was a privilege to design a report highlighting the accomplishments of this world-class university, showing stakeholders the value of their investment in improving the health of humankind around the world, today and in the future.
